Inzaghi: ‘Lazio deserve more than fourth’ | Football Italia

Simone Inzaghi explains why ‘we saw the Lazio that we knew before’ in a 5-1 win at Verona and they ‘deserve more than to finish fourth.’

The Biancocelesti caught Atalanta in third place and put Ciro Immobile well clear at the top of the Capocannoniere charts with a hat-trick in the 5-1 victory away to Verona.

“We saw the Lazio that we knew before, because we had options to come off the bench and rotate the squad, which we didn’t have before,” Inzaghi told Sky Sport Italia.

“We don’t want to finish fourth, as the team deserves more for all they’ve achieved this season. We have records to beat, for Immobile, for Luis Alberto’s assists, but they know that there’s no way they could target these personal objectives without their teammates.

“The last four years have been so special, I don’t want to just make it seem like this season was different. We won the Italian Super Cup, set a new record for points and qualified for the Champions League.

  “These lads are special.”

Probable line_2

Inter forward Romelu Lukaku is ready to return to the starting line-up against Fiorentina, with Lautaro Martinez set for a place on the bench.

Check out the previews for tonight’s five other matches HERE.

The Belgian replaced Lautaro to score the equaliser from the penalty spot against Roma last time and should be fully recovered for tonight’s game against the Viola.

Antonio Conte is expected to give the support role back to Christian Eriksen, sitting behind Alexis Sanchez and the leading goalscorer.

Marcelo Brozovic played as the No10 against the Giallorossi but is expected to make way, with Nicolò Barella and Roberto Gagliardini in the middle.

Antonio Candreva and Ashley Young should take place on the sides, with Danilo D’Ambrosio, Stefan de Vrij and Diego Godin at the back.

Fiorentina arrive with a similar formation but will most likely push higher with their wide midfielders, as Federico Chiesa looks set to start at right, giving Christian Kouame and Franck Ribery the chance to combine up front.

Alfred Duncan, Erick Pulgar and Gaetano Castrovilli should get the nod in the midfield trident, with Dalbert at the left.

Inter (probable): Handanovic; D’Ambrosio, De Vrij, Godin; Candreva, Barella, Gagliardini, Young; Eriksen; Lukaku, Sanchez

Fiorentina (probable): Dragowski; Milenkovic, Pezzella, Caceres; Chiesa, Duncan, Pulgar, Castrovilli, Dalbert; Kouame, Ribery

Ranieri: ‘Comebacks are the best’ | Football Italia

Sampdoria coach Claudio Ranieri thanked his players after the 3-2 triumph over Parma and claimed comeback wins ‘are the best games’.

Goals by Julian Chabot, Fabio Quagliarella and Federico Bonazzoli turned the game for Samp in the second half, as Ranieri felt Parma, who were 2-0 up at half-time, were ‘surprised’ by the Blucerchiati.

“Parma started better than us, but we never played at 17.15 (local time) before and the pitch was dry,” he said, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

“The ball didn’t move well. It took a while for us to figure it out. In the second half we were shorter and more compact. Everything changed.

“They were surprised by our comeback and those are the best games, even if you hurt your liver.”

Ranieri pointed out that Sampdoria are more or less safe and revealed a lot has changed since his arrival.

“Let’s say we’re back on the horse, even if we need a point to reach safety. I enjoy the fact that I get along with the guys, it’s something I need to give my all.

“The tension was great, ending in Serie B would have changed everyone’s career. We needed to get involved. I thank all the guys, from the captain to the youngsters.

“This year, we experienced something unusual, having water up to our throat. But I believed and still believe in my lads. There’s potential here. We must always give our all to prove it.”

Miha: ‘Offside rule must change’ | Football Italia

Bologna coach Sinisa Mihajlovic has called for a change in the offside rules, claiming you can’t ‘rule out a goal for a nose or a shoulder’.

Ahead of the match against Milan on Saturday, the Rossoblu coach pointed out the need to address the offside rules, despite accepting that ‘we must adapt’ to VAR.

“I think me need more tolerance because that’s how the show goes. Ruling out a goal because you have a nose or a shoulder offside seems too much, even if the rules are clear,” Mihajlovic told the reporters at a press conference.

“In my opinion, it must change. You must have a margin beyond that before it becomes offside. But one good thing about VAR is the offside.

“It is signalled even for a millimetre. It has often happened to us, both for and against. We must adapt but I hope something will change in the future.”
