Milan confirm full-back Andrea Conti has undergone keyhole surgery to correct a meniscus problem in his left knee.
The 26-year-old had made 26 competitive appearances this season between Serie A and the Coppa Italia.
“AC Milan announces that Andrea Conti, following persistent pain due to the trauma suffered to his left knee during Sassuolo v AC Milan, has today undergone keyhole surgery to resolve the issue to his medial meniscus,” read a statement.
“The procedure was carried out by Prof. Pier Paolo Mariani, with the Club’s doctor, Mario Brozzi, overseeing.”
Conti’s career practically ground to a halt after his move from Atalanta in 2017, almost immediately tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
He was out for over an entire season, needing more surgery in April 2018 and not making his comeback until December 2018.
