Crotone snap up Sporting midfielder | Football Italia

Crotone are pulling no punches, as after securing Lisandro Magallan from Ajax, they have a deal for Sporting CP midfielder Eduardo Henrique.

The Calabrian club earned promotion to Serie A along with Benevento and Spezia this summer.

Ajax defender Magallan underwent his medical today and is due to put pen to paper on the contract, on loan with option to buy for €9m.

Now Sky Sport Italia claim Crotone have also agreed terms with Sporting CP for 25-year-old Brazilian midfielder Eduardo Henrique.

He too will arrive on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season for approximately €4m.

Eduardo Henrique was only signed from Internacional in the summer of 2019 for €3m and made 22 appearances for Sporting

last season.

Mancini’s XI against Bosnia? | Football Italia

Ahead of the match against Bosnia-Herzegovina tomorrow night, Sky Sport Italia claims Italy CT has clear ideas about his starting line-up.

The UEFA Nations League match kicks off at 19

.45 UK time at the Artemio Franchi on Friday.

The broadcaster reports Italy are expected to side a 4-3-3 formation, according to their observations from the Coverciano camp.

In front of Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumme, captain Giorgio Chiellini is set for a return to the line-up, next to Juventus teammate Leo Bonucci.

Roma right-back Alessandro Florenzi and Fiorentina wing-back Cristiano Biraghi complete the defence.

Benevento: ‘Bonaventura chose Fiorentina’ | Football Italia

Benevento President Oreste Vigorito discusses their active transfer strategy, but admits Giacomo Bonaventura ‘chose Fiorentina for reasons other than money.’

The newly-promoted club are celebrating the 91st anniversary of their foundation today and mark the occasion by going into only their second ever Serie A season.

“What we learned from last time is that Serie A is not something we are participating in, we have to be ready to take the initiative,” Vigorito told RAI Radio.

“We’re trying to bring in experienced players who are in their full maturity and can help the existing squad to step up to the next level.

“Things have also changed, because last time we were promoted via the play-offs, this year by winning the Serie B title. I am curious to see the new signings in action and there are more on the way, for example we’re in talks for Bryan Dabo.”

Benevento have already snapped up Kamil Glik, Gianluca Lapadula and Gianluca Caprari, but accepted defeat for ex-Milan midfielder Bonaventura, who is expected to sign a two-year contract with the Viola.

“We did try and made a very important offer to the player, who was interested. We talked to him and his agent, but there were reasons other than money that pushed him towards Fiorentina.

“I imagine it’s the desire to be closer to his family. I am pleased to say at least that

three years ago we had to explain to players where Benevento was, now it’s recognised on the national level.”

Juventus plan to reopen stadium | Football Italia

Juventus have presented a viable plan to get season ticket holders back into the stadium from the opening round of the Serie A season.

All competitive games have been played behind closed doors in Italy since the lockdown in early March, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The news of a plan to re-open the Allianz Juventus Stadium was confirmed by the regional assembly of Piedmont and their governor Alberto Cirio.

“We can return to normality, with the utmost respect for the rules and prevention of further contagion,” Cirio told news agency Ansa.

“The objective of the club is to be ready for the first game.”

They aren’t the only ones, but appear to be the

first to have provided the report and plan to the Technical Scientific Committee for evaluation.

Napoli have been allowing 1,000 fans into their pre-season training sessions and friendlies, while Sampdoria are set to play a friendly with Alessandria in front of 1,000 supporters too.

Juve’s first home game of the season would be against Sampdoria on the weekend of September 19-20.

Allan arrives for Everton medical | Football Italia

Napoli midfielder Allan has landed in Liverpool with a private jet to complete his Everton transfer for a reported €25m plus bonuses.

The 29-year-old has been pushing for an exit for some time and his rapport with the club was never the same after they rejected a €50m proposal from PSG in January 2019.

  Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis

confirmed the deal was done with Everton, where Allan will reunite with former Partenopei coach Carlo Ancelotti.

He was photographed by the Daily Mail landing in Liverpool with a private jet, accompanied by his wife Thais Marques.

Allan first joined Napoli from Udinese in 2015 and has made 212 competitive appearances for the club.

He’ll undergo a medical today or tomorrow and sign the contract.

Mancini: ‘Chiellini mistake was my fault…’ | Football Italia

Italy coach Roberto Mancini confesses he accidentally left Giorgio Chiellini on the bench against Bosnia-Herzegovina. ‘I didn’t have my glasses on…’

There was confusion in the build-up to the Nations League match on Friday evening in Florence, as reporters were all confident Chiellini was meant to be in the starting XI.

When Francesco Acerbi appeared in the official line-up, RAI Sport claimed the FIGC were desperately trying to get UEFA to change it, but were told it could only be done if Acerbi was sent to the stands due to injury.

“It was my fault,” confessed Mancini in his press conference after the 1-1 draw.

“They showed me the line-up, I didn’t have my glasses on and just said it was fine. I didn’t notice Acerbi was there rather than Chiellini.

“Anyway, we had planned originally for Acerbi to play one game and Chiellini another. I had asked Giorgio if he wanted to play today or on Monday with Holland, he said today, but we’ll have to swap it now.

  “It’s not

like we chose a goalkeeper rather than a defender, it’s not a massive difference, but yes, it was an error.”

Carta wants to keep Pavoletti at Cagliari | Football Italia

Sporting director Pierluigi Carta insists Cagliari forward Leonardo Pavoletti will not go anywhere, amid interest from his former club Genoa.

The striker was injured for most of 2019-20 but returned for the last match and Carta says he will be an important member of the squad this season.

He has been linked with a

return to the Grifoni on loan but Cagliari are not planning to let him go.

“He’s a very important player for us, he’s not on his way out and we are not looking for a team to park him in,” Carta told Sky Sport Italia.

“He has an important role, he can contribute in an important way. The market is long, if offers arrive, we will evaluate them.

“But today, we certainly don’t want to get rid of him.”

Mancini: ‘Jorginho won’t start’ | Football Italia

Roberto Mancini confirms Jorginho will not start tonight’s Nations League game between Italy and Bosnia-Herzegovina, while defending the striker squad rotation.

It kicks off at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT) at the Stadio Franchi in Florence and is their first game since November 2019.

Click here for the probable line-ups.

“It’s a very unusual situation, because players returned straight from their vacations, some haven’t been in training at all, so we’ll see if substitutions are needed during the game,” the CT told Rai Sport.

Giorgio Chiellini returns to the squad after his knee ligament injury, but Mancini warned to expect many changes going into Monday’s match against Holland.

“Giorgio is a very important player who has experience, but is also a very important person in the locker room for the other lads. Francesco Acerbi did very well filling in, so we have two games in four days and have to think about the alternatives in every area with many changes in the Netherlands.

“I don’t think Jorginho will start, as he arrived a few days later than the others, we’re still evaluating his fitness levels, so he’ll certainly be on the bench.”

Nicolò Zaniolo also returns after a lengthy injury absence, having torn his anterior cruciate ligament in January.

“I believe the important thing is that he’s growing up as a person as well as a player. As for tactical roles, he can play wide attack at Roma, in a trequartista position or in midfield, so I don’t think he’ll have many problems adapting.”

Andrea Belotti is expected to start upfront this evening, reserving Capocannoniere and

European Golden Shoe winner Ciro Immobile for the Netherlands match.

“It’s important to have them both in good shape, then we must evaluate their fitness levels and the situation. They are not in a condition right now to play two games in four days, and the situation will probably be the same in October-November with three matches in 10 days,” continued Mancini.

“We also have to look after the players and make sure they don’t get injured.”

This game will be the first for Italy since the lockdown, so also their first behind closed doors.

“I hope the fans can be entertained watching from home and that we can put in a strong performance to pick up where we left off 10 months ago.”

Barcelona prepare response as ‘Bartomeu must go’ | Football Italia

Barcelona are reportedly preparing a response to the message from Lionel Messi, as President Josep Maria Bartomeu is asked to resign.

Associated Press says the Blaugrana have confirmed the letter from Messi, where he states his wish to terminate the contract at Camp Nou one year early.

He wants to trigger a clause in the agreement, but the club says it expired on June 10 and the request has been handed to the lawyers dealing with the contracts.

Reports in Spain claims the Blaugrana are preparing an answer to the fax from La Pulce, delivered through the same journalist at RAC1 who confirmed the letter arrived.

The Presidential candidate of Barcelona, Victor Font, has asked for new elections to be called immediately if Bartomeu doesn’t resign from his position.

Font would be ready to present a motion of no confidence against the current President, in the eye of the storm caused by the captain, as Messi informed the Catalans he wants to leave the club in the upcoming transfer market.

Another Lecce player has COVID

Lecce defender Brayan Vera has tested positive for COVID-19 and the entire Serie B squad has gone into an isolated training camp.

This is the second coronavirus case at Lecce, after midfielder Panagiotis Tachtsidis on Monday.

A statement from the club notes Vera was tested later than the others, as he had permission for an extra few days before attending training.

He had the test on Tuesday and it proved positive, so the player is in quarantine, albeit asymptomatic.

  As a precaution, Lecce

announced they have cancelled this afternoon’s training session and are going into an isolated training camp.

This is similar to the ‘bubble’ created when the teams restarted the season in June after three months of lockdown.

It means the players and staff will remain in one structure where they can sleep, eat and train without contact with anyone outside of the group.
